"As a mom of two little ones, I sometimes feel like I have a "mommy body".   This photo shoot is just what I needed to feel sexy again.   Thank you so much for taking the time with me during this shoot so I could regain confidence in my own skin and my post babies body.   I'm so glad I took the me-time to do this!"

Preparing for your Boudoir Session

Your experience should be fun and relaxing.   Preparing in advance will help to ease your worries before getting in front of the camera.  So here are a few that will help you prepare for the shoot.

 What to wear
  •  Be comfortable and choose something that you feel confidant in.  Don’t worry about the parts you don’t want to show, we will work together to address your concerns during the session through posing and placement.
  • Bring alternate lingerie pieces along with a loose shirt or satin robe.    We can choose together.
  • Matching sets and solid colours work best.   Black and dark jewel tones are best.
  • Avoid the baby-doll… We know, we all love the forgiving flow of an empire waist,  But in truth      it won’t flatter the area.   Wear high waist panty, bodysuit or fitted teddy if you really want to cover the are.
  • Not too tight!   Check for seams that pinch around the legs, arms and back that may push your skin outside.    This includes cleavage and breast push up’s that of course we want to show off but without squeezing anything too tight.   Thigh high stockings, if you choose to bring them, should be garter hold up’s instead of the plastic, elastic grip style.
  •  Break out the Heels!   Grab your favorite pair of stilettos and don’t worry, you won’t even have to walk in them!
  •  For some fun, if you are doing a session to show a partner,   sneak their favorite shirt, cap, tie, accessory from the closet and bring it along.   (please advice your photographer in advance)

Hair, Make-up & All that Jazz!
  • Professional Hair and Make-up can be arranged in studio prior to your shoot.   If you are interested we can discuss in more detail when you book.
  • Let your hair down!  Skip those fancy French twists and buns that won’t be appreciated from the view of the lens.  Avoid washing the day off the shoot to minimize frizz.  We’ll be using your hair as a sexy curtain for some poses so let the locks loose!
  • Make-up should be a step more dramatic than your every-day wear.  Avoid powder foundation as many of those products catch the flash and appear like dust on your skin.  A Matt liquid   foundation works best.    Play up the eyes with Mascara and liner and a natural/light shades  for shadow.
  • Full cover matt lips will pop better than a gloss.
  • Your hands and feet will be on display so  spoil yourself with a mani/pedi even if it’s at home on the couch while you binge your guilty pleasure show.

The Nitty Gritty
  • Shave and Moisturize the day before and not the day of.   This is to avoid bumps or redness.
  • Skip the spray tan!   It can create unwanted dark spots and brings attention to creases and wrinkles.   And you wouldn’t want to leave your “mark” behind on the white studio sheets!
  •  Clear Deodorant is a must for today.
  • Come in comfort.  Tight clothes, socks and bra straps will leave lines that may still be visible when the shoot begins. (Same goes for that hair tie on your wrist…)

How to get in the zone…
  • Be well rested.   Get a good sleep the night before and don’t plan any big events for the day of the shoot.
  • Eat a healthy meal or snack before you come and drink plenty of water to make sure you are energized and your skin is hydrated.   Some of this session may feel like exercise!
  • Talk to your photographer.  If you any questions or concerns about what to expect email me   anytime for details on what my approach will be.

How to Love your Boudoir Portrait
  • Enjoy the session.  A genuine smile during the photo shoot will shine in the final result.  Look at the lens like it’s an trusted friend, not a villain from a horror movie.
  • Don’t look!  Avoid the temptation asking to look at the session photos before the photographer has a change to spend time going through them.    Your photographer  will use their talent and expertise to choose the very best images to put the finishing touches on through editing.
  • It’s human nature to look at your own image and critique it unnecessarily.   Editing will be done to soften and polish off the final portrait but not to change the body you came to show off.
  • Celebrate what your body has done for you and that it is unique to you.    This session is to show off your best assets and your confidence.

And Have Fun!
